Married Commitment Argument Doubts

It’s supposed to be the best day of your life but it can also be the most stressful. Getting married should be a union of your love and commitment but often this sentiment gets overshadowed by other issues. Everybody wants to have their say about how or even if you should do it and it can be hard not to crack under the pressure.

Having Doubts

Getting married is a huge commitment and it is understandable that you may begin to question it. This is normal and usually you will come to your senses and realise that it is what you want. However, sometimes those nagging doubts just won’t go away. You may have felt pressurised into it, be pregnant and though it was for the best, or just caught up in the excitement. Either way you need to think seriously about what you want. Once the venue is booked and the dress is bought you may feel like it is too late too pull out but it isn’t. Yes, you may let a few people down but you be will be letting yourself down if you go through with it.

Do It How You Want

Your wedding should be the perfect day just the way you want it. However you will soon find that everyone else has strongly held opinions about how you should do it. Parents and in-laws are usually the most vocal and difficult to deal with. Often if they are paying towards it they feel like they have the right to run it. You need to work together with your partner and stand united about what you want. Sit down your parents and explain that while you love them and appreciate their contribution, it is your day and you want to do it your way.

Avoiding Arguments

Planning a wedding can be a very stressful process and there will not doubt be arguments along the way. Whether it is between you and your partner, family members or bridesmaids try not to let it get you down. Be clear with people about what you expect from them and fair about your demands. Your wedding should be a fun celebration not full of squabbles. Perhaps try and get everyone together to go over what will happen and alleviate and disagreements all at once.

Consumption

You’ve all had a friend or colleague who has seemed to turn into a different person once they start planning their wedding. All they can talk about is what colour flowers they are going to get and what the place names will say. It is easy to get caught up in the excitement of getting married but remember that there is still life outside and not everyone is going to be as interested as you are. Spread out your appointments and make an effort to spend time with friends and family that doesn’t involve talking about the wedding.

The Big Day

So you’ve dealt with the doubts, soothed the arguments and done all the planning and now the big day has arrived. Now is the time to enjoy all your hard work and focus on the true meaning of getting married. You and your partner are coming together to declare your love and commitment for each other and embark on a new future together.

Getting married may be the best thing you ever do but it is also likely to be one of the most stressful. Focus on what you and your partner want and what your special day means to you.
